The Hip Hop Summit Youth Council Hosts 2 Hip Hop Against Gun and Gang Violence Events in 2 StAten Island Local Communities (New Brighton Projects & West Brighton Projects) during Camp NYCHA, Summer 2012 and plan to RETURN this Summer 2014.

The Kids of New Brighton Housing Development Camp NYCHA program give their own insight to GUN & GANG VIOLENCE in their Community and Express to the Hip Hop Summit Youth Council Founder, (c) Charles Fisher, how they are AFRAID to walk in their own neighborhood.

Some of the kids actually explain Graphic Violent scenes of people getting shot.  Some of the kids Solutions were to 1 : Provide more jobs so people wouldn't have to be on the streets doing Bad Things. 2: Provide better EDUCATION so that people can get better jobs and do better things in their communities.

The  * Best * response I heard came from a young Camp NYCHA attendee at the West Brighton Houses also in StAten Island, NY.  Simply put, the young participant said to give them (the bad guys) all hugs ;).

Laughter exploded in the packed community auditorium, but the kid said "I am serious. People need hugs. It makes them feel better". You have to love the kids. They are so innocent and speak the truth all adults can learn from.

Camp NYCHA participants were given rewards for their input on "Finding SOLUTIONS to Gun and Gang Violence".  Prizes Ranged from "READ 2 SUCCEED" biography styled books based on some of their favorite artists including Beyonce (who they went crazy for), Wu-Tang Clan, Lil Wayne etc...

Some kids received FREE CONCERT Tickets for them and their families, school supplies and more.
